Today's Even Better than the Good Old Days

CATEGORY:

CONTRIBUTOR: Lou Pepper

"“Ah, the good old days.”  “Things sure were different back in the day."  “They don'’t make ‘'em like they used to.” I'’ve found that when people look back they tend to have selective memories. While it may be true that they don’'t make ‘'em like they used to, I'’d argue that'’s a very good thing.

From cars to TVs, everything is better made than it used to be… except reality TV, don'’t even get me started. Even the airplanes are better than they used to be, and the fixed base operators are better. MUCH BETTER.

Back in the day, when I first started in the general aviation business, I remember chatting with our line service techs, Orville and Wilbur, about how undemanding our FBO customers were. One of our customers, who we used to call Lucky Lindy, (no, not THAT Lucky Lindy) was happy to just have a place to park the company plane with a restroom for the Boss.

In the good old days, there were a whole lot of subpar fixed base operators around.  A good FBO was the exception. That’'s not the case anymore. In the last 20 years, the level of service and amenities have improved dramatically. An FBO has to bring its A-game every day for every customer.

At Atlantic, we pride ourselves on delivering the Atlantic Attitude to make your day and exceed your expectations. But at Atlantic Aviation, we don'’t stop there. If he was a guest at one of our bases, Lucky Lindy would get more than a bathroom and a place to park. We invest in the people, technologies and facilities needed to ensure we take care of you like no one else.

I'’ve always believed that laurels made of sand are no place to rest. And that’'s the driving force behind the launch of our new website. It’'s just another example of how we'’re always listening and growing to meet your needs. So the next time you are Instagramming or online banking, be thankful that things were different “back in the day.”
