With hurricane season in full swing, Atlantic Aviation locations have planned and prepared for whatever storm may come. As always, the safety of our employees and customers is our number one concern, but for all of us at Atlantic, the safety and well being of our community and others is also a priority. If there is any way we’re able to help, we’re there.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, Atlantic locations around the country, primarily our Florida locations, jumped at the chance to assist in any way they could. This included donating time, resources, and aid to relief efforts, particularly to the Bahamas.
At the center of Atlantic’s involvement of relief operations is Atlantic PBI. The West Palm Beach team dedicated their main hangar as a collection and storage site for donations and relief efforts for many companies and individuals. The base donated 2,000 square feet as a makeshift distribution center for Island Tyme, a charter company that before the hurricane ran charters to and from the Bahamas, but after the hurricane they took on supply runs as their main mission. They made over 70+ flights into the Bahamas with no less than 500lbs of supplies on each trip.
Other Florida bases, such as Atlantic BCT, OPF, SUA, and others participated in aiding relief efforts by discounting fees and fuel for relief flights and donating supplies like clean water, hygiene products, batteries and other nonperishable goods. Many locations also made ramp and hangar space available to both private and government missions to the Bahamas, as well as donating ramp space to utility vehicles standing by to assist with possible widespread power outages all throughout Florida.
Atlantic Aviation is proud of all our locations that jump to action to participate and assist in relief efforts for their own communities and others.
