Tis the season for colder weather and giving back. The holidays are right around the corner and Atlantic in Oklahoma City, OK (OKC), El Paso, TX (ELP), Albuquerque, NM (ABQ), and Las Vegas, NV (LAS) have all recently volunteered their time to help their communities.

Atlantic OKC recently donated backpacks to a local church, Crossroads Cathedral. The church feeds and clothes the homeless every Tuesday. When the OKC team found out they really needed backpacks, they offered to donate. They supplied over 50 backpacks to be filled with food, clothes, shoes, supplies, and food for their pets. The homeless community was able to fill their backpacks with goods. OKC’s Customer Service Manager, Gabby Z., and her son helped hand out supplies. She shared, “It was like Christmas morning when everyone saw the backpacks and supplies.”

Atlantic ELP held a school supplies drive to donate to the El Paso State Supported Living Center (EPSSLC). This is a live-in facility, home to almost one hundred individuals with intellectual disabilities. The ELP team found out they needed school supplies, so they set up a donation drop box at the Atlantic ELP base and collected supplies to donate to EPSSLC.

Atlantic ABQ partnered with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Community Clothing Bank and hosted a donation drive to collect socks for Socktober. APS provides clothes, shoes, and supplies to over 3,000 students each year. Their mission is to partner with the community to enhance learning opportunities to help local students reach their full potential. With the temperatures dropping, socks make all the difference in keeping a child’s feet dry and warm. APS holds Socktober because, “When students don’t have to worry about basic needs, they can better focus on learning.” One hundred percent of all Atlantic ABQ sock donations went directly to the students within APS.

Atlantic LAS teamed up with Three Square Food Bank and volunteered their time to bag holiday dinners for seniors and families in need. Three Square’s mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community. The LAS team was praised by the event organizer for bagging over 500 dinners! They shared, “We had a fantastic time and look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Each of these Atlantic teams looked for the opportunity to directly assist their neighbors in a positive way. Atlantic Aviation could not be prouder of our bases and their efforts to give back to those in need in their communities.
