In their constant effort to remain involved and better their community, Atlantic MDW served as the commencing host site at the Chicago Midway International Airport in partnership with the Chicago Department of Aviation for Project LIFT (Leading Inspiring Future Talent).

Project LIFT is a program of the AMAC Foundation (Airport Minority Advisory Council), a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing minorities and women pursuing careers in the aviation industry. They focus on developing educational programs and providing scholarships to students who are emerging aviation professionals. At Project LIFT, students engage in various activities, including speaker sessions, workshops, airport tours, museum visits and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) projects.

The event exposed 100 students to potential aviation/aerospace-related industry careers, educational paths, networking, and scholarship opportunities with professional mentors well versed in related career paths. Throughout the day, students attended different workshops, learning about different parts of General Aviation. There were guest speakers, demonstrations, and even trivia.

Beyond hosting the event. Atlantic MDW  participated as workshop presenters for general aviation and ground handling, with the help of their tenants and flight departments. 'When the Airport Commissioner of Workforce Development asked for partnership from the aviation community to be part of this event, we jumped at the opportunity," shares Bernard Young, Atlantic MDW general manager. "It is an honor to be involved in this important initiative that offers insight into general aviation operations and careers for minority students interested in aviation."

The team at Atlantic MDW ensured every student had a meaningful and enlightening time. Special thanks to Bernard Young, general manager, Tiffany Hall, customer service manager, and Edgar Guerra, safety training manager, for taking this opportunity and running with it. They put all of their heart, time, and effort into the event and it definitely showed!
