ELP Hosts Diabetes Event for Kids

CONTRIBUTOR: Atlantic Cares

Atlantic Cares ELP
Atlantic El Paso (ELP) recently hosted an event for the El Paso Diabetes Association (EPDA) in their hangar. Every year in the last week of June, Camp Lydia Mann takes place for kids ages 5 to 12. This is a summer camp designed for kids with diabetes or at risk to develop diabetes. It focuses on joining kids together to meet others just like them, help them to check their own blood sugar, administer their own insulin, and make new friends. At the end of their camp they know how to be more self-sufficient in managing their diabetes during school and while with friends.

EPDA reached out to Atlantic ELP asking for any type of sponsorship they may be able to provide for their children’s summer camp this year. They were excited to help in any way possible, so together they determined a field trip to Atlantic and venue for their art project was a perfect fit. The kids got to see what an FBO is, check out some airplanes up close and personal, and do their art project in ELP’s hangar. The views from the hangar during their project boasted beautiful mountain scenes with aircraft taking off and landing. A site they are sure to remember!

The entire team at ELP was honored to host this event for these amazing kids. Whenever an opportunity arises to be involved in community efforts, Atlantic ELP always stretches above and beyond to make it happen.
