Giving Back for the Holidays

This holiday season Atlantic Aviation celebrated and embraced those that matter the most to us, our work families, our customers and our communities. All across the country we celebrated the season with decorations, parties, and events, but most importantly we celebrated by taking the opportunity to give back within our communities. We take great pride in investing in our communities, and while giving back is not just something we do during the holiday season, we do enjoy seeing the magic it brings at this special time of year.

Atlantic Aviation combined efforts once again to send warm wishes abroad to our troops overseas. This tradition was brought to Atlantic last year by Samantha Rooks of Atlantic Farmingdale (FRG). With Samantha’s help, Atlantic Aviation partnered with the Heartillery Group, a nonprofit organization whose sole mission is to show support, love, and gratitude to our troops overseas. Over 30 Atlantic locations around the country, participated and together we collected over 650 cards! Employees and customers alike were able to write a touching and heartfelt motivational holiday message for a soldier serving overseas.

One location that has their own holiday tradition is Atlantic San Jose (SJC). Every year for the past 15 years the Atlantic SJC aviation community hosts the man himself, Santa Claus! Years ago, with what just started as a small holiday party for employees, is now an extremely special tradition for customers and tenants, too. With the help from a loyal customer, Gloria Reyes, SJC’s customer service manager, works to coordinate Santa’s travels to their Christmas party. Each year, this loyal customer volunteers his aircraft to bring in Mr. Claus. Atlantic SJC makes it a special event by decorating and putting out fun holiday spreads, like a hot cocoa table. Santa brings a big bag of toys to all the kids in the SJC aviation community at the party. The kids can take a photo with Santa and Gloria makes sure to print out the photos for them to keep, to cherish the memories. The SJC team loves throwing this event for everyone to enjoy. They even get former tenants that call and ask if they are still hosting Santa this year, because their grand-kids love it. The kids all love how Santa travels on a jet!

Many other Atlantic locations host holiday parties and participate in local philanthropic initiatives. Atlantic Albuquerque (ABQ) hosted a coat drive to support their community. The coats and warm weather gear went to children in their area that were in need during the winter season. Atlantic Houston Hobby (HOU) and Pittsburgh (PIT) participated in Toys for Tots, a program that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The HOU team collected enough toys from employees and customers for 50 kids to celebrate during the holiday season, and PIT donated over 30 new toys to their local area Stuff-A-Bus initiative benefiting Toys for Tots.

Atlantic Addison (ADS) collected toiletries for their local homeless community and prepared care packages for them, as a little something special. Atlantic Carlsbad (CRQ) held a food drive for the San Diego Food Bank and sent in 236 pounds of food that made 197 meals for folks during the holidays. Finally, Atlantic Santa Ana (SNA) hosted the Snyder Langston’s Annual Holiday Build-A-Bike event. Over 100 bikes were assembled for local at-risk children. The bikes were delivered to the Orangewood Foundation and The Wooden Floor, nonprofit organizations for foster youths in the community. Atlantic SNA donated 10 bikes and the hangar for the bikes to be built in. It was the team’s 8th year participating in the event and they look forward to it every year.

Giving back is a facet of who we are. It’s a core part of our company culture and attitude that we pride ourselves with having. Our holidays wouldn’t be as bright if we didn’t focus on giving to others. From holiday events and decor, to treating our fellow employees and loyal customers, to joining and hosting donation drives, Atlantic Aviation all across the country truly cares.
