Tis the Season of Giving - Atlantic Style!

collage Edited

Although Atlantic loves to give to others and supports many charitable contributions throughout the year, the holiday season is always a perfect time to reach out to those in need.

Many monetary donations were given this year to some really great charitable organizations that were hand chosen by our locations. Some of these included: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Fisher House Foundation, Special Olympics, and Wounded Warriors.

Although it’s always great to support charitable contributions through a donation, it’s truly touching how many of our locations go out of their way to organize, plan, rally for support, and deliver heart felt gifts to those in need. Below are only a few stories of how some of our locations found ways to reach out to others this past season.

SNA – Build-A-Bike Holiday Drive: SNA provided hangar space to Snyder Langston to help assemble bikes to be donated along with a helmet and bike lock. Langston works in conjunction with Wooden Floor and Orangewood Children’s Foundation to deliver bikes to low income families and at risk youths. SNA was able to help donate over 100 bikes by providing a donation and offering their hangar!

PWK – Adopt a Family Luncheon: PWK organized a luncheon in an effort to raise funds for a family they adopted for the holidays through Children’s Home and Aid. They smoked 22 pounds of pork shoulder, offered baked beans, and macaroni & cheese. The funds that were collected from the luncheon went towards a family that includes two children, ages five and six. No doubt PWK was able to make this family’s holiday wishes come true.

This initiative gives the basic necessities to the homeless community during the holidays. PDK helped put together care packages that were donated to Alimena for distribution to those in need.

Their most significant event, Gifts from Heaven which is hosted on Christmas Eve, provides over 300 children with Christmas presents, winter coats, food, beverages, haircuts, and activities for the children and their families.

SGJ – Firefighters for Families Adopt a Family Program: Each year Atlantic SGJ participates in the Firefighters for Families Adopt a Family Program which is led by customer service manager Josh Galloway. The 2015 family that SGJ adopted included 4 children ages 3-14. These kids asked for everything from clothes to beauty products, toy trucks, and books. With the additional support of customers and nearby businesses, SGJ was able to flood their family with all the gifts requested. Each year the Firefighters for Families supports over 200 families by providing bikes, food, and monetary donations.

BCT – Ronald McDonald House: BCT employee Skyla Deveaux overheard a tenant discussing his very ill daughter who had been treated by the Ronald McDonald House. She set up a box for donations that would go to the house along with an inspirational quote. After only 10 days of collecting donations, BCT was able to donate three full boxes of toys! It really touched their heart to be able to pass the toys out to the children and learn personally how each was being helped by the Ronald McDonald House.

BCT – Assisted Living for the Elderly: BCT employee Nile Leone coordinated with the resident manager of an assisted living for the elderly facility in a low income area to throw a holiday party for the residents. Nile found a musician willing to play for free, organized crafts, and spent hours coordinating and setting up for their holiday party. Nile, along with other Atlantic employees, enjoyed the party with the residents by meeting, greeting, and spending time with each and every one.
