At Atlantic Aviation, going above and beyond is just part of the job—but every so often, someone makes a lasting impact that truly soars. That’s why we’re proud to honor Mike Knight, Operations Manager at Atlantic Aviation Rifle (RIL), as our 2024 Employee of the Year.

Mike’s dedication to service and aviation excellence is felt daily at our Rifle location, but his influence reaches far beyond the tarmac. Several years ago, a young boy wandered into the FBO, captivated by the sight of airplanes and eager to learn more. Mike noticed the boy’s curiosity and took the time to give him a personal tour—introducing him to the world of aviation in a way only someone with true passion could.

That first encounter turned into several more visits. The boy returned often, fascinated by the aircraft and fueled by Mike’s enthusiasm and generosity. Over time, a spark became a dream.

Fast forward to today, and that young boy is now a college student—well on his way to becoming a commercial airline pilot. During a recent trip home to Colorado, he stopped by the RIL FBO to reconnect with Mike, the person who helped launch his aviation journey. He embraced Mike with a heartfelt hug and shared how those early moments on the ramp inspired his path. He’s now actively training through Aspen Flight Academy and pursuing the licenses and ratings needed to take to the skies professionally.

It’s stories like these that remind us why we do what we do.

In recognition of this powerful impact and the everyday excellence Mike brings to his work, our team organized a surprise celebration at Atlantic Aviation RIL. Surrounded by leadership, teammates, and well-wishers, Mike was honored for his genuine commitment to making a difference—not just in our operations, but in people’s lives.

“Mike embodies the heart of Atlantic Aviation,” said a team member at the event. “His passion, patience, and willingness to go the extra mile truly change lives. That’s what this award is all about.”
